The deputy UN spokesman, Farhan Haq, told reporters here the World Health Organization's (WHO) International Health Regulations Emergency Committee on
Ebola had begun consultations in Geneva, Switzerland, as part of its mandate.
The Emergency Committee is convened periodically to advise the WHO director general on the risks associated with disease outbreaks and deliver
recommendations on travel and trade restrictions.
The group first met in August after which WHO declared Ebola a public health emergency of international concern and recommended the implementation of exit
screenings for travelers who were sick or were in contact with those infected.
Haq said that the Emergency Committee would share its conclusions with the public Thursday.
According to WHO's latest situation report on the Ebola response, by Oct. 19 http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-toy-story-sort-vans-sko-udsalg.html , there had been 9,936 confirmed, probable and suspected cases of Ebola being
documented across five countries, including Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Spain
and the United States http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-toy-story-old-skool-hvid-vans-sko-old-skool.html , and two previously affected countries, Nigeria and Senegal, while 4,877 people
had died of the deadly virus.
Although the outbreaks have been declared over in Nigeria and Senegal, the UN health agency warned that Ebola transmission remained "persistent and
widespread" in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The outbreak has impacted not only the health sector but various other areas. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) , for instance http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/herre-vans-sk8-hi-reissue-udsalg-flade-rod.html , noted that the current Ebola outbreak is the world 's largest on record to date,
adding that the crisis is "adversely impacting the food security of affected
populations."
"If not addressed now, the consequences of the outbreak could lead to long-lasting impacts on farmers' livelihoods and rural economies," UN Food and
Agriculture Organization warned in a brief. "A multisectoral approach is
required to contain the outbreak and stabilize affected areas."
FAO is "urgently calling" for 30 million U.S. dollars to support activities linked to its Regional Response Programme to the Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak
over the next 12 months in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and at-risk countries,
and is following "a twin-track approach to help halt the tragic loss of life
while at the same time protecting incomes http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-sk8-hi-slim-leather-tilbud-hvid-vans.html , nutrition levels and food security."
Given the situation, the head of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response, Anthony Banbury, on Wednesday visited the Guinean capital of Conakry, where he
met with President Alpha Conde. He arrived in the capital to present an
operational framework for the Ebola response and "ensure a shared understanding
of the key challenges and priority needs for Guinea, " the UN mission explained.
THE HAGUE, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Although the Dutch saw some ice and snow in the final days of 2014 http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-sk8-hi-reissue-sort-vans-sko-denmark.html , the year will go down as the warmest year in the Netherlands since at least
1706, with for the first time since 1990 no full day with a temperature below
zero degrees Celsius, a spokesperson of weather bureau Weeronline told Xinhua on
Tuesday.
The year 2014 ends with an average record high temperature of 11.7 degrees, which cannot change according to the expected temperatures of Tuesday and
Wednesday anymore. The former record since the start of the official
measurements in 1901 was on 11.2 degrees in 2006 and 2007.
"We can even say it was the warmest year since 1706," Marthijn Tabak, spokesman of weather bureau Weeronline, told Xinhua. "Since that year we
collected info as well http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-old-skool-hvid-guld-old-skool-vans-tilbud.html , so we can be certain of the average temperature in a year, but the information
is not complete enough to draw conclusions about other more specific matters,
like the 24 hours below zero degrees."
Since 1901 eight other years were recorded without a single day with 24 hours of frost and a maximum temperature of below zero degrees. In 1910, 1930, 1944,
1949, 1951 http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-old-skool-sort-old-skool-vans-tilbud.html , 1975, 1988 and 1990 the Netherlands didn't have such a day, like in 2014. Last
year the Netherlands had thirteen days below zero and 1943 had a record of 45
days with the temperature not getting above the freezing point.
"The higher temperatures this year have to do with capriciousness of the weather," Tabak coninued. "We had a lot of southerly winds, what may be called
kind of accidental. But in addition, not coincidentally, it gets hotter every
year. There are more and more warm years and less cold. In ten years it is has
become 0.4 degrees warmer in the Netherlands."
"This trend continues http://www.oldskooltilbud.com/vans-old-skool-pro-sort-old-skool-vans-denmark.html ," Tabak added. "But that does not mean it we will never have cold winters anymore.
It has to do with the increased CO2 emission that has changed our climate since
the second half of the last century. That is worrying. Until now, we can find no
other reason than that this rise was caused by human activities."
TEHRAN, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Iran's recently re-elected President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the Syrian issue should be solved through dialogue
and peaceful means.
Rouhani hailed the trilateral efforts by Russia, Turkey and Iran to establish "cease-fire" in Syria and stressed that militarization would not settle the
problems of the Arab state.
He expressed the hope that diplomatic efforts would bear results and would pave the way for the Syrian people to decide on the future of their country.
In the meantime, Rouhani said Iran will continue to support the Syrian and Iraqi governments in their fight against terrorism.
Rouhani conveyed the message that as in recent years Iran has supported the Syrian and Iraqi governments through diplomatic efforts and military advisors,
it will maintain this policy in the fu.
