Developed by the Beijing-based company, the new drone VT1 with a hybrid gas-electric engine is 3.4 meters long and can cover a 200-kilometer radius,
according to JD.
JD said the new drone was in testing. The drone service will transport goods between distribution stations rather than to customers directly.
Xiao Jun, vice president of JD, said the VT1 could carry heavier parcels and travel over a longer time. The drones will not be affected by traffic congestion
and can improve delivery efficiency and save logistic costs.
JD started conducting trial deliveries using drones in 2016. Smaller drones are being used in the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province and the city of Suqian
in Jiangsu Province.
From June to July 31, the delivery drones, which can carry items weighing between 15 kg and 30 kg, have flown more than 800 times and traveled over 4,000
km in Xi'an, according to the company.
JD announced in May that it planned to invest 20.5 billion yuan (3 billion U.S. dollars) over the next five years to build a logistics hub in Xi'an.

BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- As more Chinese cities impose bans on fireworks ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, a number of people have come up with a
creative and often hilarious response: mimicking firecrackers.
A video showing several groomsmen vocally reproducing the bangs of firecrackers, at a wedding in the eastern Chinese city of Dezhou, went viral on
Pear Video, a popular video-sharing website, attracting more than 700,000 views.
""So creative. It's good for the environment,"" said a user on Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like platform.
The smoke-free firecracker show was the brainchild of the newly-weds, who tried to create the same celebratory atmosphere while not breaking local
regulations.
Earlier this month, the government of Dezhou imposed a three-year ban on fireworks in the city proper, to reduce pollution, ensure public safety and
protect property.
Setting off fireworks or firecrackers is a part of Chinese tradition during celebrations and festivals. It is believed the noises drive away bad spirits and
bring good luck.
However, due to environmental and safety concerns, many Chinese cities have imposed bans or restrictions on fireworks.
Last year, more than 444 cities in China banned fireworks during the Lunar New Year holidays, while another 764 cities put curbs in place, according to the
Ministry of Public Security.

Canada and Mexico on Sunday wrapped up the first round of renegotiations on the
North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), pledging to continue a rapid pace
of talks in the coming months to update the 23-year-old trilateral trade deal.

MONTREAL, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Canada, the United States and Mexico concluded Monday their sixth round of North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA)
negotiations in Montreal with a chapter of anti-corruption but still at odds on
other key issues.
At a joint press conference following the talks, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and
Mexican Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal told a press
conference that some progress had been made while acknowledging that tough
challenges still lie ahead to strike a new deal.
They separately introduced the sixth round talks and none of them answered questions at the press conference.
Freeland said Canada prefers a negotiated settlement, but will protect the domestic softwood lumber industry. She said Canadian challenging the U.S. at the
World Trade Organization last month is a separate issue from the NAFTA talks. In
the challenge, Canada cited other examples of alleged U.S. wrongdoing, almost
all of them concerning other trading partners, such as China, India, Brazil and
the European Union.
""Canadians do not view free trade as a zero sum game in which one side must lose in order for the other to win,"" she said.
Lighthizer said some progress had been made, hoping it will accelerate and achieve major breakthroughs. ""This round was a step forward, but we are
progressing very slowly.""
At the press conference, Lighthizer also said the trade complaint launched by Canada at the World Trade Organization against the U.S. use of anti-dumping and
anti-subsidy duties are ""unprecedented"" and a ""massive attack on all of our
trade laws.""
Lighthizer also voiced his opposition to two proposals put on the table by Canada, including a rules-of-origin pitch for autos.
""We find that the automobile rules-of-origin idea that was presented when analyzed, may actually lead to less regional content than we have now, fewer
jobs in the United States, Canada and most likely Mexico,"" he said. ""This is
the opposite of what we were trying to do.""
Villarreal said while progress had been achieved, ""substantial challenges"" remain to overcome.
The sixth round closed on a more conciliatory note than expected, with all three countries looking forward to more progress on the next round of
