I did post this in advance that the film was coming on in October a few weeks back.I cant understand what Naheem liked about the film so much. The film was in Punjabi with subtitles which I had no problems with.
The basic theme of the film is that it showed the dark side of the Martial law regime of Zia-ul-Haq and the so called Islamization process that took place under Zia. Also showed the cruelty to women and the minorities in Pakistan. The film ends in 2002 and it shows that Pakistan is still living under the legacy of Zia-ul-Haq.
Without doubt the Zia era was the darkest period in our history and it was during the Zia years that Pakistani Cinema and creative art were killed.
Its a hard hitting film or more of a documentry. Its something which most Pakistanis won't enjoy watching but nothing is distorted and it is all facts regarding the cruel Zia regime.
Finally one thing I cant understand why do our filmmakers always have to show the negitive elements of our society.
