The Chief Minister Punjab Ch. Pervaiz Elahi Thursday said the government is taking practical steps to strengthen the local film industry so that the public could be provided healthy recreation in the form of good cinema. Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Film Producers Association here he said the government is working on various proposals to provide relief to the film industry and that the government would provide resources to strengthen the local film industry. He observed that films could play an important role in raising awareness for various social issues, besides providing entertainment to the masses. The Chief Minister said that the government would establish a film processing laboratory to technically improve the product. According to a handout, the Chief Minister said that the government will put a check on the practice of promoting vulgarity in the name of films and dramas and warned of action against all those theatre houses which are flourishing due to this practice. The delegation was led by chairman PFPA.
