This is a message sent by Rio Olympics organizers after the 2016 Rio Carnival lowered its curtain on Saturday.
With less than six months until the Rio Olympics begin, the city embraces Olympics in street parties and Olympians past and present join the parades at
the Sambodromo, the home of Rio Carnival.
"Feeling this energy, it makes you excited, the Games are here!" The words of Brazilian volleyball player Gabi Guimaraes on February 7 at the Sambodromo. She
said the celebrations were just "a glimpse" of what is to come in August 2016
when Rio hosts the first Olympic Games in South America.
At the Sambodromo - which will host the archery and marathon finish during the Games - the Rio 2016 spirit was in full effect as mascots Vinicius and Tom
got the celebrations up and running.
As it is the year of the first Latin American Olympics, the Rio Olympics are also the favorite theme of the samba schools. The Uniao da Ilha samba school has
chosen an Olympics theme for its dancers and floats.
The samba school presented the theme "Olympic in nature. Everyone is meeting in Rio" in February 7 evening, the first day of the special group carnival
competition. Their procession included dancers clad in ancient Greek-style
costumes, a large depiction of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue and
athletes from cyclists to acrobatic wheelchair competitors.
During its parade, sport and samba combined from beginning to end. Vanderlei Cordeira de Lima, who won the Pierre de Coubertin medal after finishing third in
the Athens 2004 marathon despite being attacked by a spectator while leading,
led the way, carrying a replica of the Rio Olympic torch.
The final float was packed with Brazilian Olympic medalists, such as volleyball players Giba, Giovane and Jaque Silva, and swimmer Ricardo Prado, as
well as current athletes, including synchronized swimming duet Duda and Luisa,
and volleyball player Gabi, with everyone signing the samba school's lyrics.
After the carnival, Rio 2016 will stage a further 22 test events to warm up the city for the sporting extravaganza.
WARSAW, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz Wednesday announced the dismissal of three ministers of her government, the Speaker of the
Parliament, Advisor to the prime minister and Coordinator of Special Forces.
Kopacz announced the Minister of Health Bartosz Arlukowicz, Minister of Finance Wlodzimierz Karpinski, and Minister of Sport and Tourism Andrzej Biernat
asked for dismissal. Apart form the ministers, the Speaker of the Lower Chamber
of Polish Parliament, Radoslaw Sikorski, also resigned from his office
altogether with Jacek Rostowski, the Advisor to PM and Jacek Cichocki, the
Coordinator of Special Forces.
These changes in Polish Government and Parliament are the effect of the online publication of several investigation files concerning the eavesdropping
scandal.
The eavesdropping scandal came to light in June 2014, when the weekly "Direct" published a series of recordings made in three Warsaw's restaurants
between July 2013 and June 2014. The recorded people included top-level
politicians, former and current ministers, and businessmen. Immediately after
the publication in June 2014, Public Prosecutor General launched the
investigation.
Almost a year later, on June 9, 2015, the local news portal published a number of pictures with the investigation files containing testimonies of the
witnesses. The owner of the local news portal which leaked the files, Zbigniew
S., was arrested for public distribution of the investigation files, for which
he can be charged up to two years in prison.
Kopacz said that "for past two days the public opinion focuses only on the eavesdropping scandal, what has a negative influence on the functioning of the
state."
She added that "the only effect of the lengthy investigation process is the huge Internet leak of the investigation files. This situation seriously
questions the credibility of the prosecutor's office. That is why I will not
acknowledge the 2014 report by Public Prosecutor General (Andrzej Seremet)."
"The only institutions, which should clarify these circumstances is efficiently working prosecutor's office, with a new Public Prosecutor General as
its head," the prime minister said.
As of June 2015, the investigation files comprise of 37 volumes, and the eavesdropping includes 37 private meetings that took place in a restaurant in
Warsaw. The main suspects in the trial are businessman Marek Falenta and his
associate Krzysztof R. and two waiters, who recorded the meetings. The
investigation will last until September 2015.

been trying hard over the weekend toextinguish a fire caused by looming EU
restrictions on forestindustry.
The European Parliament Environmental Committee decided recentlythat the use of forest should remain at the level of 2000-2012. Theproposal discourages
Finnish plans that envisage a much higherlevel of usage.
Currently, there are several major biomass and pulp plantprojects in Finland that still await final go-ahead by theinvestors, who are pinning their hope on
the expansion of theforest sector.
Contributing 20 percent of the Finnish GDP, the forest industryis playing a key role in the economic strategy of the Finnishgovernment. The government has
planned to increase the use offorest by 30 percent by 2030.
