Initially Akshay was quite apprehensive on doing the film. The reason being Akshay did not want to mouth any anti-Pak dialogues in the film, as he did not want to hurt the sentiments of his millions of Pakistani fans. The dialogues were subsequently modified and Akshay stepped in the film.
Anil Sharma had earlier directed the all-time blockbuster hit Gadar (2001) and The Hero (2003). But unlike his earlier films, ATWHS is not an anti-Pak film as tagged by a certain section of media.
The film shows Indian and Pakistani armies coming together to fight terrorists who try to disrupt the Amarnath pilgrimage yatra. As in LOC, even this war-film has used actual army weaponry and real soldiers. The film promises of some heavy-duty action, which has always been a forte of Anil Sharma films. The movie also has a love angle to it.
