The film may have received a lukewarm response back home, but Swades is all set to become a hit overseas standing fourth against films like Polar Express, The Incredibles and Ocean's Twelve. Ronnie Screwala, CEO, UTV, explained, "Swades recorded third largest per screen average--$6667 and has recorded $42804 in three day opening weekend. The film is also drawing huge crowds in Dubai. In fact, in Dubai the film collected a whopping $175000 more than even Veer Zaara." Seems that the patriotic flavor of the film well down with the NRIs.
