The voluptuous Anjana is set to make her debut with Kushan Nandy's ‘Humdum’. Nandy Jr’s second film (his first '88, Antop Hill' sank without a trace) set against the backdrop of a TV game show wherein two participants - Siddhant Dey (Romit Raaj) and Rutu Joshi (Anjana) slug it out for the final booty of Rs 10 crore. ‘Humdum’ is being targeted for a mid-February release.
The girl who started her career in a Coke ad opposite Aamir Khan (Yeh akela kitne ke barabar hoga ad) may well find herself working with Aamir again. Anjana has auditioned for Rakesh Mehra's ‘Rang De Basanti’.
Mehra's last directorial venture, ‘Aks’ fared miserably at the box-office. ‘Rang De Basanti’ has been planned in two languages simultaneously, Hindi and English (with the title ‘Paint It Yellow’). The cost of ‘Rang De Basanti’ would be to the tune of little lesser than 35 crores. According to sources, London-based Angad Paul (son of Swaraj Paul and friend of Arjun Rampal), whom Mehra had approached for funding has backed out. Later Mehra approached Applause Entertainment but he could not strike a deal.
The latest on the grapevine is that UTV has taken over as the co-producer of ‘Rang De Basanti’. Furthermore, Kushan has promised Anjana his next production, which will start in the next few months and be directed by an outside director. It will be a two-hero film. Shahid Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh are the names on board.
Kushan is also planning another film in 2005, which he himself will direct. Romit Raaj has been chosen to play the lead. The search for the leading lady has begun.
