Pakistan beat Australia in tri-series match
PERTH: Pakistan on Sunday achieved an upset victory against world champions Australia in a tri-series one-day cricket match at the Western Australian Cricket Association Ground. Pakistan dismissed Australia for 265 on a good batting wicket despite dropping a string of catches, including two off opener Adam Gilchrist.
They then rattled up 268 for 7 off 47.2 overs for their first win against the hosts on their current tour, after losing the Test series 3-0 and their two previous tri-series matches against Australia. Yousuf Youhana set the stage for victory with 72 off 90 balls, including seven fours and one huge six. He was helped by all-rounder Abdul Razzaq who finished unbeaten on 63 to go with his bowling figures of 4-53. Shahid Afridi added a quickfire 30 from 13 balls.
Pakistan face the West Indies in Perth on Tuesday to decide who will meet Australia in the final of the competition. Match scores: Australia 265 (50 overs), Pakistan 268 for 7 (47.2 overs).
Australia set 266 runs winning target for Pakistan
PERTH, Australia: Australia were dismissed for 265 in their tri-series 50-overs cricket match against Pakistan at the Western Australian Cricket Association Ground here on Sunday.
Michael Clarke top-scored with 76 not out. Abdul Razzaq captured four wickets for 53 runs. Naveedul Hassan, Mohammad Khalil and Shahid Afridi grabbed two wickets each for giving 50, 55 and 45 runs respectively.
Earlier, Australian captain Ricky Ponting won thetoss and chose to bat.
Australia lead the tri-series with 26 points ahead of the West Indies with nine and Pakistan with seven.
Australia win toss elect to bat against Pakistan
PERTH, Australia: Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in their tri-series limited overs cricket match against Pakistan at the Western Australian Cricket Association ground here Sunday.
The home side named all rounder Shane Watson 12th man and omitted pace bowler Michael Kasprowicz and batsman Darren Lehmann. Kasprowicz was replaced by speedster Brett Lee on the bouncy WACA wicket.
The out-of-form Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist will open the batting for Australia with Michael Clarke dropping down the order. Conditions for the match were hot and the wicket was in perfect condition.
