on Tuesday signed free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland to replace Davon House
who is now on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.Breeland was one of the top
cornerbacks on the free agent market just a few months ago, but had his contract
offer from the Carolina Panthers rescinded after he suffered a cut on his foot
in the Dominican Republic that ended up being infected.The injury was severe
enough that teams didn’t want to sign him until the Packers did two days ago.
The move adds veteran experience to a secondary that outside of Tramon Williams
is very young and raw. Breeland also is a nice insurance policy to have while
second-year corner Kevin King continues to recover from a groin injury.Breeland
practiced this week but his availability for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo
Bills is up in the air at this point. Regardless, Green Bay May have gotten a
steal by signing a player of his caliber at the veteran minimum so his play will
