The Jacksonville Jaguars fired running backs coach Tyrone
Wheatley and three more assistants Monday night Donte Moncrief Jersey , according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of
anonymity and said offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, secondary coach Perry
Fewell and defensive line coach Marion Hobby also were let go one day after the
season finale.Wheatley’s dismissal was the least surprising. It came one day
after Fournette and T.J. Yeldon were sharply criticized for being disengaged
from coaches and teammates during the 20-3 loss at Houston.Coughlin ripped both
players for being “disrespectful” and “selfish.” He said “their behavior was
unbecoming of a professional football player.”More Jacksonville Jaguars

two seasons, including two because of suspensions, and has shown little interest
in being a good professional. Yeldon, a pending free agent, barely played down
the stretch. Jacksonville also traded a fifth-round pick for Carlos Hyde, who
ran for 189 yards in eight games. All four assistants had been with the team for
two seasons.Wheatley’s position group was among the least production in 2018.
Fournette was one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments, finishing with 439 yards
rushing and five touchdowns while missing eight games.Flaherty’s line was
ravaged by injuries, but he also got little out of free-agent guard Andrew
Norwell. Fewell’s secondary wasn’t nearly as productive as it was in 2017 and
saw veteran safety Barry Church waived late in the season. Hobby’s unit
underperformed at several positions, and first-round draft pick Taven Bryan made
marginal gains in his rookie year.Coach Doug Marrone also fired offensive
coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in late November, meaning he now has five job
openings heading into the new year.Marrone said earlier Monday that he didn’t
want to make any staff changes based on emotion, adding that he would make sure
“it’s for the right reasons and not just a reaction.” We are just 10 days away

Jaguars have not had a lot of success with first round draft picks, but there
have been some really solid second-rounders, and quite a few mid-round or
late-round players that have exceeded all expectations. Let’s focus on those
mid-round selections for today’s discussion, though. Generally, I think most
would agree with my assessment that first and second rounders can be considered
early round picks, while selections in the third/fourth/fifth round are looked
at as mid-rounders, and of course sixth or seventh rounders are the late round
wildcards. So, let’s recap some notable picks in Jaguars franchise history from
rounds three through five (again, these are “notables” not all are “gems”):
Round 3: 2018: Ronnie Harrison, SS, Alabama2017: Dawuane Smoot, DE,
Illinois2016: Yannick Ngakoue, DE, Maryland 2015: A.J. Cann Womens Leonard Fournette Jersey , OG, South Carolina 2014, Brandon Linder, OG/OC, Miami (FL.) 2009: Terrance Knighton, DT, Temple and Derek Cox, CB,
William & Mary2007: Mike Sims-Walker, WR, UCF2006: Clint Ingram, OLB,
Oklahoma2003: Vince Manuwai, OG, Hawaii2002: Akin Ayodele Barry Church Jersey , OLB, Purdue 2000: T.J. Slaughter, MLB, Southern Miss1996: Aaron Beasley, CB, West Virginia Quick Thoughts: Every player
mentioned here was either a multiple-year starter or carved out a niche as a
rotational player for the Jaguars. But the past five drafts have all been pretty
successful for Jacksonville in the third round. The jury is still out on young
players Ronnie Harrison and Dawuane Smoot, but Yannick Ngakoue is one of the
NFL’s best pass-rushers, and Brandon Linder (when healthy) is one of the
league’s top interior offensive lineman. Say what you want about A.J. Cann, but
he is a multi-year stater and the front office clearly believes in him as he was
re-signed to the team this offseason. Other solid players such as Vince Manuwai
(may he rest in peace), Aaron Beasley, Akin Ayodele, Terrance “Pot Roast”
Knighton and Clint Ingram were significant role players for the team. T.J.
Slaughter also put in a few productive seasons. This one seems like an obvious
answer, but let’s do it anyway:
