Naseeruddin Shah pays covert visit to Lahore

LAHORE: Indian film actor Naseeruddin Shah, who has worked in many acclaimed films, visited Lahore on March 11. He stayed in the city for three days and flew back to Delhi yesterday (Tuesday).
Shah had come to Lahore to act in a feature film, ‘Khuda Key Liye’, directed and produced by Shoaib Mansoor. He stayed in the city at Yousaf Salahuddin’s residence.
Shah is playing the role of a religious scholar in the film and the opening scene, set in a courtroom, was shot at King Edward Medical College.
Contacted by Daily Times on Tuesday, Mansoor was busy shooting a scene and refused to give details about the film. “I don’t want publicity. Let me complete the film first,” he said.
Daily Times learnt that that the film tackles many controversial questions for the youth.
Besides Shah, the film cast includes Iman Ali, Ali Zafar, Junaid Jamshed, Naeem Tahir, Imran Pirzada, Seemi Raheel, Shahnawaz Zaidi and Ayub Khoso.
The film will be shot in Pakistan, England and America and will be completed in June. The cameraman, an Englishman named Nick, works in Hollywood. Salahuddin arranged a musical evening for Shah. Ghazal vocalist Fareeda Khanum and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan enthralled the distinguished guest.
Shah’s father was the caretaker of Khawaja Moeenuddin Chishti’s shrine for seven years. Shah’s visit was kept secret on his request.
