NBC Sports shared LaVine's dunk stats last season and stated that the former
13th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft tallied 69 dunks over 63 games.
LaVine also had a career-best year with the Bulls averaging close to 24
points per outing to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
What makes matters worse is NBA 2K20 drew a tie naming LaVine and Utah Jazz
guard Donovan Mitchell as the second-best dunkers in the league. Both
earned dunk ratings of 96 which places the two stars one point shy of
the league’s top dunker New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.
Mitchell meanwhile posted almost the same numbers as LaVine with 23.8 points,4.1
rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. The 2018 NBA Slam Dunk champ also
led the Utah Jazz to a post-season appearance where he posted 21.4
points 5 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 5 games.
This is all a marketing ploy designed by NBA 2K20 to cash in on Williamson’s
likability and star potential and it’s egregiously disingenuous. Not to
mention it was announced earlier this summer that Williamson signed a
video game sponsorship deal with NBA 2K20
