This is taken from the Sunday section of the Daily Times.
Saturday night was extremely hectic. Maria and I were both leaving the next day, and wanting to make the most of our last few hours in Doobs, we partied like mad. The pre at Cosmos at the famous Sheikh Zayyed Road was like sitting at a roadside café on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The UAE is being developed and modernised at an amazing rate and you honestly can’t tell the difference between Dubai and an urban metropolis of the west anymore.
Later, we were invited to a club called Jimmy Dexx where Saturday nights feature Indian music and this week, the theme was holi. The club was jammed packed and I couldn’t even breathe with so many party enthusiasts around me. Saw Lollywood director Sangeeta with the cast of her latest flick, dancing on the floor and having a mighty good time. The new Indian girl Sheeba, who is the lead in Sangeeta’s project, looks very promising and sensual. Stayed there for hardly fifteen minutes and then forced the gang out with my regular tantrums and fits. Sweet Faraz came to my rescue along with Maria. We decided to stop over at Kas Bar at the Jumera Beach Hotel, before heading home. That was my kind of scene. Enjoyed the music and right sort of ambiance. We stayed and danced into the wee hours of the morning.
During my stay, heard soooo many interesting tidbits about this town we call Lollywood. New kid on the block Babrik had an argument with one of his producers. Being one of the largest pakhtoon community presences in UAE, he gathered his Pathan brothers as his back-up gangster force and threatened the newcomer with dire consequences. The issue was resolved only after the intervention of Sangeeta, a ‘mighty’ force herself. Talk about our film industry being the ambassadors of our nation. We should be more careful. Am I right, sweethearts!
Then there’s the latest on actress Laila. Apparently, one night she was walking down a street wearing a micro mini, a boob tube and fish net stockings with high heels, knowing or not knowing (?) that it was the working street of nighttime gals. One local approached her and asked, “how much?” Now anyone could have been mistaken by Laila’s attire. She first smiled and then noticing her colleagues behind her replied, “what do you mean? I am a number one actress of Pakistan, ok?!” The man couldn’t digest the fact and said, “that’s too much,” before walking off!
The film that Sangeeta is shooting for is called "Tarap".
