The sulfates give the shampoo its washingpower and allow it to produce the abundant foam so popular with consumers.
Despite their effectiveness, their use has been criticized for many years
because they are not very good for the body. In fact, SLS and SLES are
recognized as particularly aggressive ingredients for the skin and for the
mucous membranes, even at very small doses. The first is even commonly used as
a reference irritant for skin tolerance tests. Both are also suspected,
crossing the skin, of polluting the organs and of being able to interfere with
the endocrine system.

Why choose a sulfate-free shampoo?
Because of their stripping action, sulfatesare accused of altering the quality of the hair. Indeed, the scalp would
respond to the aggression of sulfates by producing more sebum, which, in the
long run, would make the roots fatter. Worse, according to some studies, the
accumulation of these surfactants on the scalp would promote hair loss. The
lengths would not be spared either: stripped by the foam, they would lose
flexibility and become brittle and dull. That impression of hair? extinct?

sulfated surfactants.
