There are a lot of reasons, but the main one,I think, has to do with culture. In many parts of the world, Europe especially, soccer is part of of the fabric of society. It’s ingrained within us from when we are young.It is in many ways the game of chess of the common man. Seeing so many games over the years you come to appreciate tactics, the work that is put into developing players etc.Fans also have a certain amount of pride about the teams they support. While sometimes this can lead to negative consequences such as fanaticism, it can also teach fans some important values.
