Never mind rumours of a Yash Chopra-SRK split, the actor signs up for Ab Tak Chhappan director's next film
While the buzz about differences over money between the top Bollywood studio Yashraj, and their favourite poster-boy Shah Rukh Khan had gained momentum a few months ago, it seems the problem (if there was any) has been settled.
Director Shimit Amin is all set to direct Shah Rukh Khan for Yash Chopra's forthcoming venture. The yet-untitled film is likely to go on the floors mid next year and the rest of the casting remains to be finalised. The film, to be produced by Aditya Chopra, will be scripted by Jaideep Sahni (the writer of Bunty Aur Babli and Company).
Amin, who made his debut last year with the Ram Gopal Varma production Ab Tak Chhappan informs, “It's too early to talk about it but I would be working on a film with Shah Rukh. He liked the script and hopefully the film will go on the floors next year. I am happy and excited that I would be working with him. The beginning has been very good, but we still have a long way to go.”
While Amin was not very forthcoming with the details, he revealed, “The final draft of the script will be ready by the end of the year. It is Jaideep's (Company, Bunty Aur Babli) idea and the screenplay will be developed by both Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Jaideep.”
Interestingly Amin says he got his present job right “after Ab Tak Chappan, Adi called me to say he liked my film. Then we started chatting about various prospects of doing a film together. We eventually zeroed-in on an idea. Basically we are thrilled that Shah Rukh liked the idea too, and we would be working together on the film.”
On his shift to the Yashraj camp, after having made his directorial debut with Varma, Amin says, “I am extremely fond of both the places. I had a wonderful time working with Ram Gopal Varma, and I am sure I would love working with Yashraj. It is definitely going to be a different film from what I have made earlier, as it is altogether a different set-up.”
