In the winter, Lake Tahoe is home to several world-class ski resorts. Local ski resorts get 300-500 inches of snow yearly from Pacific coastal storms. Skiers in Lake Tahoe enjoy the best of both worlds: plenty of powder and mild weather. Skiing at Tahoe Lake is particularly remarkable because of these fantastic conditions and the breathtaking views of the Lake below. Squaw Valley, Heavenly, Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar, Sierra at Tahoe, and Diamond Peak are the main ski areas in the Lake Tahoe region.
