The Devil has very little control over you. In Islam, the most the Devil can do is make you forget things, and to distract you with fear. Fear of poverty. Meaning, fear of death. And, he can whisper ideas in your mind. Obviously, those ideas aren’t about love, humility, and service. Those ideas are about skepticism, suspicion, and assumption.
Simple mind games are all that he has. But, if we use our mind to define the world around us, he has some powerful tools.
And, for most of us, we might keep our thinking caps on when someone tells us something, but we leave the thinking caps off when we get ideas into our own minds. So, you may read these blogs and read them critically, but when ideas pop into your mind about people, you may let them roll around in your mind, without handling them critically. That field is the Devil’s stagnant water swimming pool.
And, when the Devil succeeds, he celebrates. When he gets you to make assumptions about others, when he gets you to doubt God, when he gets you to fear things you don’t need to fear, he celebrates. His celebration is vile.
Nobody makes me miss Fajr, but me myself. But, he’s the one who entices me by helping me think I’ll hurt myself if I get out of bed. He’s the one who entices me by making me appreciate the softness of the covers. No zionist conspiracy. No capitalist vulture. No television imperialism. ITS ALL ME.
When I get angry at someone, the Devil may entice me to forget my boundaries. But, ITS ALL ME.
Seek refuge in God from the accursed Devil.
