Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (KANK) is Karan Jhohar’s fourth venture after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Naa Ho. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Urmila Matondkar, Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan, Saira Mohan in lead role and Kiron Kher, Arjun Ramphal in supporting role.

Amitabh Bachchan is playing a rich business tycoon Mohinder Sharma - owner of Sharma Limited. He is a self made man who became Delhi’s number one businessman with his hard work. After the death of his wife he busy himself more in his work than giving time to his daughter.

Shah Rukh Khan is Jai Varma, a neurotic accountant working for Sharma Limited. One day he comes across a woman and he changes into the cool, womanizing, aggressive Michael. Unintentionally he starts living two different lives, one in the name of Jai and another in the name of Michael.

Rani Mukherjee is Mohinder Sharma (business tycoon) daughter, Shalini Sharma who is quite intelligent like her father with a very feminist attitude. She dislikes all men who approach her and think they are ‘dogs on the lookout for only for one thing’.

Abhishek Bachchan is a journalist Anand Bakshi. He is new to this profession and is looking for an interesting story to make a mark in the journalism world. He lives in an apartment accross Jai/Michael, they bump into each other one day, and Anand finds his story.

Preity Zinta is Kiran Reddy, a full time nurse assisting patients in a mental institute. She loves her work and loves to help people. It her daily routine until one day, a new patient comes their.

Arjun Rampal is Dr.Vikram Chatterjee, a doctor who majored in psychology and helps patients in a mental institute. His theory is that ‘no one is mental, but just misunderstood.’

The film centers on the budding romance between Jai and Shalini - both married to different people. Settled into a life of domestic ritual, and convinced that they are happy in their respective relationships; Jai and Shalini still yearn for something deeper and more meaningful, which is precisely what they find in each other. From a relationship starting off in pleasant barbs the two begin to develop and acknowledge the feelings they have beneath the surface. When their feelings come to the fore, what results is a collision of lives and emotions, affecting everyone involved and changing them forever.
