Tapping new talent

Momy Rana, who is said to have the Midas touch, swears by new talent. In his debut directorial venture, Rana has entrusted Sahir Ali Bagga, a new music composer, to dish out tunes for his comedy. He has also roped in pop singers instead of regular playback singers. Reema is the only familiar face.

Landing a good role in a film has not been a difficult task for Shafqat Cheema, but playing a villain with conviction could be his true test say industry sources. In the upcoming Heer Ranjha with Syed Noor, Cheema plays a conniving person plotting to disrupt a lover's union. This would be his maiden shot at playing a villain.

Freedom at last

After paying a hefty bail amount, Nirma has been released from her day-long lock-up in the Race Course jail in Lahore. Her troubles began when producer Changez Awan demanded the advance payment back after cancelling a play. But, the actress maintained that a conflict between the producers was not her fault and that she was not legally bound to return the money, even if the play was cancelled.

Dejected by the lack of sponsors for her film projects, Sangeeta may decide to leave the film city of Lahore and set up base in Karachi.
