After living for three years in Japan and another three years in beautiful Hawaii we learned to love rice. We eat rice at least five times a week in many different recipes or just plain. When we lived overseas we bought a rice cooker because everyone had one. Since then, we used it so much that we've had to replace it twice. We were so impressed with the ease of use and delicious rice from a rice cooker, we bought several of them for presents to family members. But now, because we use our rice cooker so much we are looking for yet another cooker. However, we no longer live in Japan or Hawaii so I'm trying to figure out where I can get a new rice cooker.
This time I'm looking for a cooker that is stylish and will look nice while sitting on the kitchen counter. I'm also thinking about a cooker that will do more than just cooking rice, like perhaps steam vegetables. I try to cook with healthy eating in mind so I need a cooker that uses little to no oil on meat and veggies.
While I go to shop for a new cooker, it is better to first look online at the different models and cookers that are available. What I'm finding is that plenty of rice cookers are stylish, stainless steel or even colored to match any kitchen. Finally, I wouldn't buy any appliance that didn't come with some sort of warranty. Now that I know what I'm looking for I can either purchase online or hit the road and find a local store that carries the rice cooker I want.
I'm very happy that I shopped around while looking for rice cooker. I ended up making an online purchase. The one I chose has a stainless steel finish. I leave it sitting on the counter because we use it so much. It matches my other kitchen appliances. Additionally, my new rice cooker will steam vegetables and cook meat. The cooker I chose is programmable so I don't have to be home when my food starts to cook. Also, the food will stay warm all day so if I'm late getting home my food will still be hot and ready to eat. Included in the box was a small recipe book with great ideas for using my new cooker, a spoon for scooping rice and a steam basket for vegetables. Finally, the rice cooker I chose comes with a three year warranty so if it just stops working I can send it back.
