Riyadh: The Muslim fasting month of Ramadan will begin on Saturday in most Gulf countries, after the crescent moon is sighted, officials in the Arabian peninsula said Friday.
Religious authorities in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates announced that lunar observations confirmed that Ramadan would start on Saturday.
The beginning of the ninth month in the Muslim lunar calendar marks the start of Ramadan and is set according to visual observations of the crescent moon and astronomical calculations.
