Hi everyone,
My boyfriend is currently in the hospital for alcohol withdrawals. He had a bad seizure yesterday and they have him under sedation for the next couple days to monitor his symptoms. I am trying to stay positive, but I am obviously terrified (I have bad anxiety and depression). Just thought I’d share to see if anyone went through an experience like this or have any words of wisdom/advice.
Thank you! ??

I am so sorry. I have witnessed alcohol withdrawal. It is hard to watch. Your boyfriend is in the best possible place and since he is sedated, he is not suffering. I wish you the best.

Alcohol withdrawal can be really scary, especially with seizures involved, but it sounds like he’s in the best place for now with the doctors keeping an eye on him. I’ve had a friend go through something similar, and after the hospital, they ended up going to Abbeycare for more help, which really made a difference in staying sober long-term. It’s hard, but once he gets through this part, there’s definitely more support out there if you’re thinking about what comes next.
