Death lay sprawled at my feet, blood beneath my boot
Mist rising from the holes as a soul toward the heavens
Mouth faster than your fingers on your last day here
You knew I could not just walk away, honor being the thing
Scent of your blood, in my ears your last breath will ring

Carrying your blood with me upon my well worn boot
Just another mess to deal with in this life
Blending together with all the others I have seen
As the story of my life rewinds in the dead of night
Your demise just another event in my second sight

Alone in a crowded room, distance keeping me safe
A watchful eye giving me no security, no peace
Carrying with me the angel of darkness and death
Riding in a coach of leather, strapped to my thigh
Unable to leave my past, carried upon the winds cry

This town stays with me wherever I may roam
For a gunslinger can never just fade away
Death lingers in every shadow, each person we meet
Retirement is just a well placed bullet away
Unable to draw breath and live another day
