Microsoft and Pakistan's Mobilink GSM to collaborate on .NET technology vision
Microsoft Pakistan and Mobilink GSM (Pakistan) have announced that they have signed a renewal of their existing Enterprise Agreement, which is to run for 3 years.
Mr. Emre Berkin, Vice President of the Microsoft EMEA Region signs with Mr. Al Barry, President and CEO, Mobilink Pakistan.
The new agreement will provide Windows operating system, Office suite and client connectivity licenses to 550 desktop users at Mobilink, which is an increase of 10% on the previous agreement. Both companies anticipate that the agreement will help the cellular company to initiate new and innovative technology concepts and introduce effective systems into the organization.
"As a premier telecommunications company in Pakistan, it is of paramount importance that we are able to offer superior cellular services to our customers. This is only possible by using best-of-breed-products, which we are now able to do by using technology and infrastructure products from Microsoft," said Mr. Al Barry, President and CEO, Mobilink GSM.
The companies have agreed to develop a technology vision, which will include developmental and technological expertise sharing and promotion of cellular services in the region. Specifically, the agreement will enable Microsoft to share its technologies and product roadmaps with Mobilink in order to develop new technology to conduct business. Microsoft has also bundled training on .NET technology and consultancy services, in addition to a number of server products, to add value to the agreement.
"Microsoft Pakistan is pleased to renew a long-term technology commitment with Mobilink to enhance its technological capacity and improvement in services. I am sure it will be of immense value to the organisation," said Mr. Emre Berkin, Vice President of the Microsoft EMEA Region.
Mr. Berkin and Mr. Al Barry signed the agreement during GITEX in the presence of: Mr. Tariq Rashid, CIO of Mobilink, Mr. Mohammad Kateeb, Managing Director Microsoft Middle East, and Mr. Abdullatif Al Mulla, Country Manager, South Gulf. The Microsoft Team from Pakistan included Mr. Jawwad Rehman, Country Manager, and Mr. Asim Haque, Enterprise Account Manager, Microsoft Pakistan.
