We hear about suicide bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq all the time. Pakistan has been the victim of these attacks. What do you guys think about the legality/morality of these attacks?

1. Most of the dead are Muslims.

2. Taleban and Insurgents in Iraq both claim to be doing their religious duty.
        a. Is it OK for them to kill their own people?
        b. Why there is no outcry among the ranks of Taleban and Iraqi Insurgents?

3. What do the planners do after a successful attack? Do they celebrate the death of innocent Muslims?

No Chit Chatters in this thread please. Before you answer any of these, I want you to sit back, and think about it for a minute.

4. Is it really Jihad? I know people sympathize with Taleban and Insurgents, but WHY? I can't answer that.

Interesting take. Where are you getting your information from? If it is American Military pulling out these stunts, why the insurgents/Taleban taking responsibility of these attacks.

sun_shine. I think you need to think about it.

How long we as Muslims are going to survive by avoiding this discussion. Just because Taleban/Iraqi Insurgents are using name of Islam, does not mean that their actions are justified.

I am all up for an Islamic state with Islamic laws. It sounds very promising, but I need to know what laws will be impemented before the struggle for Islamic State starts. Everyone seems to have their own interpertation of these laws. Unless there is a unified set of laws, there is not going to be any Islamic State ever.

I only know one thing
suscide bombing has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims
they simply are PPL (humans may b) who want to defend their views,, nothing else
In 2nd world war Japs did the same thing, in my knowledge they r not muslims,,, they were just defending something they were comitted to

we all know abt Kid Soldiers in africa,, who are ready to kill their own family to defend their political party
these little 10/11 yrs old kids who killed so many ppl,, how will we judge them ????

remains the question of morality
how to teach wot is right or wrong to kids or to ppl who have no knowledge abt their own religion

we muslims have such a strong beleive in JANNAT and DOZAKH,, the difference between MUSLIM and KAFIR that any person (visibly a good muslim) can make us do horrible things for that
i still know loads of ppl for whome since u r a KALMA GO the hell-fire cant touch u
how to make understand such person that killing innocents is wrong,, since for him the person he is killing is not innocent

You make really good points. I also think that the person blowing himself along with innocent civilians does not think of them as innocent. Its true for all humans. Like Mr Bush said that either you are with us or against us. Taleban say the same thing. Either you are with them or not.

in both cases, if you are not, you are dead.

suicide bombing is an act of desperation not an act of inspiration, remember fatima the 72 years old palestinian who blew herself a couple of years ago?someone who spent her entire life struggling peacefully and watching the death of her beloved ones helplessly, atlast lost her faith in peace in humanity and justice and joined the bombers.i cried when i frst read her story.i dont support their point of view, but when i ask myself what i would have done had i been in fatima's place, the answer scares me.

im against bush and talibans,, I always express my views loudly
and see im still alive

(well easy to say while living in France hehhee)

nikama
i wont say that sucide bombing always results of desprate situations,,
its motivated by despration and inspiration
im not only talking abt Iraq or Phalestine
we had cases in mosques in Pak,, wot abt them ?? that 17yrs old guy who blew himself to kill a shiite leader
wot was his motivations???
""to hell with all of u, since im going to paradise""

in 30s 40s jews lived in a desprate situation in europe
we all can see where are they standing after 50/60yrs
im not saying that we shd exactly follow their example and make other nations miserable (phalestine)
but we can learn something,,,, y are they so powerful even after living the holocaust
may b coz they ve learn from their past,, or they simply beleive in unity

and wot abt us
we kill our own ppl to evacuate the anger and despration

In some cases, yes. It is an act of desperation. In most of the cases, it is not.
