The film has not been released in Pakistan. One thing I can tell you that in Gujranwala the film was supposed to have be shown at Kashmir Mahal Cinema and the ticket price was going to be 400 rupees. A massive hike in ticket price from the normal 75-100 rupees.

Awarapan in Pakistani cinemas on July 6
Further to the breaking news about the release of the Mohit Suri-directed Awarapan in Pakistan, we have an update that the film will hit cinemas in Pakistan on July 6, a week after its worldwide release.
According to Sohail Khan, the film's executive producer in Pakistan, "This is a great moment for us. Everyone here looks forward to quality Bollywood products and watches them on cable and on DVD. Now they will have the opportunity to watch it on the big screen."
Khan added that Awarapan would release in key cities like Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, to name a few, on as many as 15-17 prints.
Director Mohit Suri remarked, "I feel proud of Awarapan crossing the border. That was the underlying theme of the film. The walls have been broken and I am looking forward to the response from the Pakistani audience."

WE bring you an exclusive statement written by Pakistani rock sensation, Mustafa Zahid, post the announcement that Mahesh Bhatt’s Awarapan will release theatrically in Pakistan, creating a history of sorts. Previously scheduled to release on July 6, the film, it seems, will now hit screens across Pakistan on July 13, as director Mohit Suri felt that the next week should be used to promote the release aggressively in Pakistan.
The 24-year old Roxen vocalist, Mustafa Zahid, who has rendered the chartbusters To Phir Aao and Tera Mera Rishta in Awarapan, in a statement, said: “I saw Awarapan on Saturday in Mumbai despite the raging monsoon. Not because I’ve sung for it, but I honestly believe that it’s among the finest movies to come out of Bollywood in recent times. As a citizen of Lahore, I would love to see every Pakistani going out to watch Awarapan in cinemas. I am a Muslim and this movie has portrayed an accurate picture of my community, who believe in one God and also in the fact that if you free someone God comes to you and helps in adversity. We are ready to be the first in Pakistan and I am proud to be a part of Bollywood history in my own little way.” source-hipakistan

According to an Urdu daily the film has failed to bring the viewers to the Cinema Halls. Not even one show has gone house full. Trade analysts are blaming the poor promotion of the film for the response.

Awaarapan : Review by Dr Ejaz Waris Date: 2007-07-14 Cinema revived with the release of first main stream indian movie in Pakistan.Dfifcult to get my car parked because of jam packed house full board,I was a real happy cinegoer in Pakistan .Finally we will see cinemas full and booked. The talented director Mohit Suri (Zeher, Kalyug, Woh Lamhe) who’s been on a hit directing spree is back with Awaarapan. Here he tackles the sensitive subject of Human Trafficking and its connections with the underworld along with an addition of spirituality. The movie stars the blue-eyed-boy of the Bhatts, Emraan Hashmi, Shreya Saran, debutante Mrinalini Sharma and Ashutosh Rana.
Shivam (Emraan Hashmi) works for Malik (Ashutosh Rana) an Underworld don. One day he’s asked by Malik to keep an eye on his mistress Reema (Mrinalini Sharma) and when informed of her infidelity, is ordered by Malik to liquidate her. Shivam is suddenly haunted by his tragic past involving his ill fated love story with Aliya (Shreya Saran) and the decisions he takes from this step take him down a path of redemption, rediscovery of the spirituality hidden within him, violence and sacrifice.
The story has been inspired by the korean movie ‘A Bittersweet Life’ (2002) as well as Rakesh Roshan’s 1997 flick Koyla (Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Amrish Puri). But Mohit Suri’s take on the movie is radically different and is extremely watchable. The screenplay is taut and never gets tedious or dull at any point. The characters are well written and have been properly fleshed out. Even the songs form a part of the movie as they blend in with the narration except the 1st song Mahiya which needs to be edited out from the movie. The cinematography is extremely stylish and Hong Kong looks good. The songs have been picturised very well.
Emraan Hashmi successfully sheds his Kissing Hero tag and effortlessly slips into the role of a bandit haunted by his past. Mrinalini Sharma makes an impact on her 1st acting performance (Earlier seen in Apaharan as the nightclub dancer). Shreya Saran stands out with her innocent looks and endearing performance in her few minutes on screen. Ashutosh Rana is back after a brief hiatus and captures all the nuances of his character perfectly. Ashish Vidyarthi however is wasted. Purab Kohli is equally chilling as the psychotic Munna. Shaad Randhawa, Salil Acharya and Rehan Khan can be added to the ever growing list of upcoming talent.
The music of the movie is melodious and haunting especially To Phir Aao and Tera Mera Rishta.
However the movie faces a few problems as well. The storyline is too dark and disturbing and is not for those who wish to watch something lighter. Even the violence while important in the movie is extremely graphic and intense to watch.
Overall Awarapan can be rated as a superior and polished product from Vishesh Films. (Review by dr ejaz waris)
