LAHORE: Pakistan’s popular rock group Junoon and India’s bhangra king Daler Mehndi will meet at London’s Wembley Arena on September 20 to sing the friendship anthem ‘Yaaron yehi dosti hai’ to encourage peace between Pakistanis and Indians, a press release said on Monday.

The release said, “In their first musical meeting, Junoon and Mehndi’s coming together symbolises the growing desire of Indians and Pakistanis to put behind their warring past and pave the way for a peaceful and prosperous future for the nearly 1.5 billion people whose development has been arrested by short sighted leasdership.”

In addition to their classic favourites Sayonee and Jazba-e-Junoon, the rock band will also perform their latest single Pappu Yar from the new album Dewar, which they said sold over 1 million copies in less than a month.

After the London concert, Junoon will return for a countrywide tour to promote Dewar and record a new video for the song Taara Jala. Junoon will perform in Islamabad on October 4, at Peshawar on October 11, and in Karachi on October 18.

Junoon’s song Garaj Baras has been selected as part of the soundtrack of Indian actress and director Pooja Bhatt’s film Paap, for which the band was recently filming in Mumbai.
