I spread my wings to fly away,
for by your side I can not stay.
To morph, become a butterfly,
the time has come to say goodby.

Held much too tight to this cocoon,
must find strength to leave you soon.
Must leave this darkness far behind,
chase your shadows from my mind.

You came and held in winter's cold,
wrapped me up let love unfold.
You told me I must let you go,
these tears I shed tell me it's so.

My time has come, I must take flight,
leave you behind fly out of sight.
You kept love elusive to me,
when held in your captivity.

My beauty bursts as I emerge,
time to break free, now on the verge.
I see the sunshine in this world,
it's time to fly my wings unfurled.
