Lollywood set to set cinemas on fire on Eid
* 5 Pakistani and 1 Indian film to be screened on Eid

LAHORE: Lollywood is set to keep up the tradition of launching new films on Eid. It plans to launch five films, while cinemas will screen one Bollywood film.
The names of the Lollywood films are Jhoomar, Mohabbatan Sachiaan, Ishtihari Rajpoot, Bala Badmash, and Ghundi Run. The Bollywood film is called Godfather.
Actor Shan is playing the lead role in three of the five Lollywood films.
Syed Noor’s Jhoomar will screen at Empire Cinema on the first day of Eid. Based on a true story, Jhoomar has been the talk of town for several weeks now. It stars Saima and Moammar Rana in the leading roles. The public is excited about the film and most have bought tickets in advance. Rafique, a moviegoer, said he bought the ticket days earlier, as the film was good and there would not be any tickets left a day before Eid or even on Eid. “I expect Jhoomar to do as well as Choorian, as the cast and director are the same,” he added.
Godfather, a Bollywood film starring Indian and Pakistani actors, will be screened at Metropole and Plaza cinemas. The cast includes Vinod Khanna (Indian actor), Arbaz Khan (Indian actor), Meera, Ajab Gul and Shafqat Cheema. It is a large budget film made on the life of an underworld don.
The Defence Housing Authority cinema is screening Mohabbatan Sachiaan on Eid. Geo TV is supporting the film, which is said to be of international standard. The movie will also be screened at Sozo and Gulistan Cinemas. DHA secretary Col Amir Ayub told Daily Times that people were waiting to watch the films on Eid. He said most Eid shows had been booked in advance. He said, “DHA will also screen Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Khuda Key Lieay on Eid.”
Ishtihari Rajpoot, Bala Badmash, and Ghundi Run are Punjabi flicks and will be screened at Regal, Capital and Prince Cinemas. Several small cinemas will screen cult films such as Wild Haseena, Jawani Kee Aag and Hussan Ka Jalwa.
Imperial Cinema, also known as Moonlight cinema, will screen The Hunted on Eid. The film is for adults only. The cinema administration has said the film is a ‘gift for the public on Eid’.
Lots of families have planned to spend their Eidis (cash presents) on buying tickets. Cinema administrations have predicted that four to five shows will be screened on the second and third day of Eid.
Muhammad Omer, a ticketing official at Plaza Cinema, said the prices of tickets on Eid sometimes increased because of sale on the black market or decreased because of the people’s lack of interest in the films. He said a ticket cost Rs 150 and a box of eight people cost Rs 1,200.
