This Shelter was created 40 years ago, by Swiss Werner Hagnauer and his late wife Lilly Bodmer, when the deforestation levels in Guanacaste were high. Hagnauer received all those animals that the neighbors brought to save their lives, or that the Ministry of Environment, confiscates. At the moment the Shelter counts more the than 160 animals, of more than 60 different species
