All earthly things attached,
birth till death locks latched.
Alone, without ties that bind,
can not be throughout mankind.
Steel bars or shattered glass,
no escape as shadows pass.
Freedom becomes but a word,
some barriers quite absurd.
Lives touched in many ways,
force of nature till final days.
No man an island, so true,
chained, our whole life through.
Man is bound and must rely,
just as birds need sky to fly.
To realize unto himself,
unseen chains remain stealth.
