An Ode To Life

In the swing of things we've a heart that sings
For the lease that life has brought
Let it last awhile we'll be seen to smile
For the "dish" that's piping hot

Comes a summertime that's abuzz with rhyme
We'll be seen to sing and dance
While ignored the rain like a passing pain
That's assigned to circumstance

With the step and stride of a yard that's wide
We will rush to center stage
With a clamour loud as to stir the crowd
And to prove we've come of age

We will hie in haste and we'll get a taste
Of the twists and turns that numb
But in youthful days we will have our ways
To survive the waves that come

Like a magic trick that is good and slick
We will live illusion's rule
As to think that youth is eternal truth
Till we're taken back to school

On this road we're on is a line that's drawn
And that line's in quickened sand
With the years amassed that are massing fast
We'll be made to understand
