Once I stood proud upon this land,
so untouchable in vista grand.
Pride now makes me weak, small,
beneath deciduous trees in fall.

With heart in hand I beg of thee,
regret all that I could not see.
No excuses from this sorry man,
please forgive me if you can.

A humble man beseechs trust,
upon my knees I beg if must.
Like autumn's branch, bare, bleak,
strength withers, now feel meek.

Only half the man I use to be,
when you were here beside me.
Love's warmth in summer I recall,
pride always goes before the fall.
