Wishful Thinking

Wishful thinking fills my mind,
to truth I have become so blind.
There was no meaning in words,
listened, only lies were heard.

I gave my heart, freely to you,
when you said I love you too.
Wishful thinking, on my part,
thought it came from your heart.

Overwhelmed in pain and tears,
try to erase the past few years.
Emptiness dwells inside of me,
sorrow ahead is all my eyes see.

What do I do, what can I say,
took my love, tossed it away.
What was I thinking when we met,
and now, how can I ever forget?

No greater love will you never find,
then my love you have left behind.
Can not describe depth of my pain,
knowing you'll never love me again.
