Farewell To Happy Dreams

I dare not bid the moon farewell,
for green eyes weep for lost love.
Come each dawn my heart breaks,
final shard shall soon silently fall.

Let sorrow hide in moon shadows,
not fall from the willows that weep.
Wrap me in warmth from pain's chill,
that encircles love's echoes seen afar.

Time does not mend forsaken hearts,
it becomes an empty endless sorrow.
Magic of love once so illuminating,
brings darkness to love's afterglow.

Tears cloud over impossible dreams,
tender hearted fool of yesterday weep.
No longer worthy of happy dreams,
sun and moon blur my tear filled eyes.

Once held tightly within his grasp,
now love drifts in night's endless void.
I dare not let this moon slip away,
no more tomorrows for me to dream.
