Shahenshah-e-Ghazal, eighty-two-year-old ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan is in a deprived state, financially and mentally. He has no money to pay towards his medical bills. Soon he will be discharged from the Aga Khan hospital where he was recovering from a chronic lung infection. He has to pay an amount of Rs 5 lakh towards medical bill to a private hospital. The hospital though claims that he was treated free of cost.
His son has admitted that the family's income is not sufficient to take care of the legendary singer's medical bills. And in such state they were looking forward to a cheque presented to the singer by former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif which had bounced. And thus Hassan has no hope of any money coming in.
