Windows To The Soul

The eyes are the windows to the soul,
search deep into my eyes of green,
see the emptiness behind the facade.
The sunlight is unable to penetrate,
this loneliness inside is too powerful.

Looking back at you, my past heartache,
arrows pierced my heart so long ago,
teardrops cascade with each memory.
Smiles buried under piles of sorrow,
a brief moment struggling to be free.

Stay with me for awhile, do not go,
my forgotten heart starts to beat again,
the sands of time have stopped falling.
Bittersweet memories of yesterday fade,
the sparkle in my eyes begin to reappear.

What is it that my eyes have discovered,
is it the gentleness looking back at me,
the touch of a warm hand on my cheek.
I see a man ready to unlock my heart,
my eyes smile for they see he loves me.
