The singer, actor, director and producer Yasir Akhtar has returned from a hectic tour of musical concerts in the USA.The tour was a fabulous success and Yasir's many fans there were thrilled to see him perform live. This tour was a turning point in Yasir's musical carrier because he received a Life Time Achievement Award from the Pakistani community in the USA. The award was presented to Yasir by the Chief of the Republican Party in Washington DC, Mr Leonard Beckar.
On receiving the award Yasir said "I am honoured and proud to receive such a unique award and especially pleased to be chosen and appreciated by his fellow countrymen abroad. I'm proud to be a Pakistani". Yasir presented national song 'Sohni Mitti' from his last album 'Yasir my love'. Thousands of fans joined him in singing this song. The tour consisted of 9 concerts in different states on the Eastern sea board. Starting in Battery Park, New York on August 10.
Yasir travelled to Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Washington DC. He performed his most favourite numbers 'Milan', 'Jogi', 'Ay Sanum', 'Chandni',
'Zara man ko dekhna' and 'My Love'. Yasir while talking to The Nation Plus said 'PTV Prime' being the only Pakistani Channel in America has done a great deal in promoting Pakistani culture and language. It was a good feeling to know that you are popular among the young people in US. The tour was a success. I was happy to find out that the Pakistanis living in US keep track of the cultural activities and stars in Pakistan. They have a passion for the country which is hard to explain in words. Their is tremendous scope for show business and artists are highly appreciated for their talent. I visited a number of cities but the place which I liked the most were the lively and colourful streets of Manhattan in New York'.
Yasir's drama serial 'Mera Ghar Aik Whirlpool' in currently being telecast in the US on PTV Prime. He is now planning to produce a big musical drama serial in US.
Yasir entered showbiz at the age of 16. As a director he has many successful projects including the first ever pop music chart show ever in Pakistan 'Music Channel Chart', seven-episode drama serial 'French Toast', the first ever telefilm series 'Tapal Cinema' and drama serial 'Mera Ghar Aik Whirlpool'. His ongoing serial 'Jayen Kahan Arman' on ARY channel is also very popular and has been extended to 52 episodes due to popular demand. As a singer Yasir Akhter has four albums to his credit including 'The Arid Zone', 'Jogi' and 'Yasir My Love'. His forthcoming album has title sound track of 'Jayen Kahan Arman'. Yasir continues to shine in all the showbiz fields that he adopted.
