FLORENCE, Italy - Fiorentina ground out a 2-1 victory over second-division side Siena to reach the Italian Cup semifinals on Thursday.

Fiorentina is already without forwards Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi following serious injuries. Alessandro Matri was signed on loan from AC Milan and scored on his debut at the weekend, before going off injured. "If it continues like this, well need a good luck charm to ward off the evil spirits," Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella said.

The suspension will begin with the next regular season game for which Sanders is eligible and physically able to play.
