MILWAUKEE -- Inning after inning, the St. Custom Florida Panthers Jersey . Louis bullpen got into tough jams in a one-run game. Marco Gonzales and five fellow relievers staved off every advance, getting a huge boost from a game-saving catch in centre field by Peter Bourjos. The bullpen combined for six innings of one-run ball and the Cardinals held off the slumping Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 Thursday night for their sixth straight win. "We had guys picking each other up all night," manager Mike Matheny said. The Cardinals moved to a season-high 14 games above .500 and extended their lead to four games in the NL Central over the Brewers, who lost their ninth straight St. Louis used the bullpen early after Michael Wacha was limited to three innings in his first start off the disabled list. Gonzales (2-2) went 2 1-3 innings for the win. "The bullpen came in there and shut the door for those last six innings," Wacha said. "That was fun to watch." The Brewers stranded potential tying runs in scoring position from the sixth through the ninth, the latest frustrating loss for a team that was in first place just 10 days earlier. Manager Ron Roenicke at least he liked the fight he saw in his club. "We hit a lot of balls hard. Either they made a really good play on it or we hit it right at em," Roenicke said. St. Louis never trailed after Yadier Molinas two-run single in the first off Wily Peralta (15-10). Still, the Brewers had numerous chances to snap out of their two-week funk. Seth Maness got the Cardinals out of the sixth by inducing Logan Schafer to fly out in foul territory with a runner on third. Carlos Martinez got third-place hitter Jonathan Lucroy to pop out to end the seventh with another runner on third. In the eighth, the Brewers put runners on first and second with nobody out against Pat Neshek. The side-arming right-hander bounced back by getting Martin Maldonado to pop up a bunt attempt before Schafer hit a hard-hit fly that was tracked down by Bourjos at the centre-field wall for the second out. "I thought that ball was gone. I did. I thought it was out. Just an incredible catch. Hes not just fast -- hes got good instincts and great jumps," Matheny said. Jean Segura sent a flare to left fielder Matt Holliday, ending the threat in the eighth. NEARLY THERE Schafer thought the ball would get over Bourjos head. He was surprised when Bourjos tracked it down, though Schafer knows Bourjos is an excellent fielder. The eighth inning exemplified the recent difficult stretch for the Brewers. "We were in it the whole time," Schafer said. "Again, were just waiting for that big hit." FINISHING IT OFF The Cardinals used six relievers in all, with closer Trevor Rosenthal issuing two walks to put runners on first and second with two outs in the ninth. Rosenthal got pinch-hitter Jason Rogers to fly out to the edge of the warning track in right for his 42nd save. TRAINERS ROOM Cardinals: Wacha threw 50 pitches and struck out three. He allowed three hits, including Lucroys RBI single in the first. The right-hander had been on the disabled list since June 18 with a right shoulder injury. Brewers: Carlos Gomez pinch ran but remained out of the starting lineup with a left wrist injury. Roenicke said his leadoff hitter was feeling good, and the team doctor would re-evaluate Gomez in the hope that he might be able to return soon. Gomez has been sidelined since Monday. UP NEXT Cardinals: John Lackey (2-1) gets the start Friday, when he hopes for a repeat performance of his first start with the Cardinals after being traded from Boston. He gave up two runs in seven innings in a 3-2 victory. Brewers: Mike Fiers (4-2) is 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA in two career starts against the Cardinals, both coming in 2012. BABY BRAUN Ryan Braun missed a second straight game following the birth of his daughter Wednesday night. The right fielder appears likely to return for Fridays game. "Id like (him) and Gomey in the lineup," Roenicke said. "But youve got to do what youve got to do. This is obviously the most important thing in his life."Jussi Jokinen Jersey . Fontaine, Minnesotas seventh shooter, went wide on Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack and slid the puck under him. Wild goaltender Darcy Kuemper preserved the win by denying Vancouvers final shooter, David Booth, as he attempted a spin-o-rama shot. Aleksander Barkov Jersey . Riley Cooper (ankle), Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) and rookie Jordan Matthews should all line up when head coach Chip Kelly goes to a three wide receiver set when the Eagles host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third preseason game Thursday night.CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Leave it to a Syracuse guy to spoil Patrick Ewings NBA head coaching debut. Carmelo Anthony had 28 points and eight rebounds, Andrea Bargnani added 25 points and the New York Knicks beat Ewings Bobcats 101-91 Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak. Ewing, the former Georgetown star who spent 15 seasons with the Knicks, filled in as Charlottes coach after Steve Clifford underwent a successful procedure earlier in the day to have two stents placed in his heart. Clifford checked himself into the hospital late Thursday night with chest pain. The Bobcats havent said when they expect Clifford to return to the bench. "Unfortunately I didnt get my first win," Ewing said. "I was nervous at first but once the game started I was able to calm down and do my thing." The Knicks did their thing right from the opening tip, looking for the first time this season like the playoff team they were a year ago. After Tuesday nights 102-97 loss to the Bobcats, the Knicks held a players-only meeting. Whatever was said apparently worked. "Sometimes you need to get together and talk and communicate and figure out what the problem is, whats the issue," Anthony said. "We responded well tonight." The Knicks played with a passion thats been absent of late and drew the ire of owner James Dolan. Behind Anthony, who once led Syracuse to a national title, things looked a lot better. "We played like our backs were against the wall," Anthony said. "It was a must-win for us. This early in the season when you talk about must-wins, something obviously is going wrong. But we corrected that." Bargnani is a big reason why. Filling in at centre for the injured Tyson Chandler, Bargnani hit 11 of 25 shots from the field -- including three 3-pointers -- had eight rebounds and blocked five shots. It was his first 20-point game since March 4. Bargnani said he learned a lesson along the way. "Dont be hesitant and just play my game and go out there and do what Ive always done all these years," Bargnani said. "I got to be more aggressive on the offence." Said Anthony: "It seemed like tonight he wasnt hesitating and he had that shoot-first mentality, which I like." Kemba Walker, who led the Bobcats with 25 points, said thats where his team fell short. Walker said the Bobcats lack of energy, not Ewings coaching aability, is the reason Charlotte had its two-game win streak snapped. Jonathan Huberdeau Jersey. "Our energy level from the get go wasnt so great," Walker said. "I thought (Ewing) did great. It was us, the players. We are the ones on the court out there playing. We just have to pick up the intensity." The Knicks shot 75 per cent from the field in the third quarter -- including six of seven 3-point attempts -- to blow open a tight game and snap a three-game losing skid. Raymond Felton added 15 points for the Knicks (2-3). The Knicks opened an 18-point lead in the third quarter, but the Bobcats whittled it down to 10 at one point. The game changed after a Knicks timeout. Metta World Peace gave New York a boost by knocking down a 3-pointer, then making a steal and finding Tim Hardaway Jr. in transition for another 3. Pablo Prigionis 3 stretched the lead back to 19 and the Bobcats never challenged again. On Tuesday night, Anthony scored 32 points but shot just 10 of 32 against the Bobcats. He was more efficient in the rematch, shooting 12 of 22 with six assists. Anthony hurt the Bobcats in a variety of ways -- with fall-away jumpers, drives to the basket and with physical play inside outmuscling the younger, less experienced Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeffery Taylor in the low post for easy shots. Ewing has been an NBA assistant for 10 years, but this was his first game as a head coach. It came against a team that he played for from 1985-2000. "Coach Clifford and I have been friends for a lot of years -- weve worked together for over 10 years now -- and this is definitely not the way I wanted to start my head coaching career with him being in the hospital," Ewing said before the game. The 7-foot Ewing towered above over a group of smaller referees as he spoke with them periodically from the bench. He stayed calm for the most part, sitting and watching rather than standing and yelling. At one point he pleaded with officials for a goaltending call when Ramon Sessions drove to the basket and was fouled by raising his long right arm to signal the ball was on its way down. NOTES: The Bobcats entered as the second-worst free throw shooting team in the league, but hit 19 of 20 foul shots in the first half. ... The Bobcats continue to play without Al Jefferson, who is out with a sprained ankle. ... The Knicks shot 46 per cent from 3-point range. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
