FIFA 17 Offline Divisions, otherwise known as Single Player Seasons, have always been a part of FIFA Ultimate Team which is overlooked by most players. Understandably, the majority of players take part in Ultimate Team to build their dream team and challenge other players to see who has the best performing squad. With the addition of FUT Champions, this has been further emphasised. Most players dislike playing against the AI, which EA have repeatedly tried to refurbish so that every team doesn’t play like Barcelona.

The Benefits of FIFA 17 Offline Divisions

This year it seems that FIFA 17 Offline Divisions might be more worthy of your time. The standard 10 divisions do take time to climb, and the further you go up, the harder the AI becomes. The first couple of divisions are quite easy; it only takes a few wins to gain promotion to the next flight. Due to the easiness of the divisions, it can become very boring once you start winning 14-0. However, once you get into the top divisions of offline (Div 4 -1), the game becomes less boring. This is due to the fact that you will most likely not be winning by such a large margin. You have to be alert at all times during the tougher games as the AI will come back at you. The AI in FIFA has the reputation of being “boring”, holding possession and barely leaving their own half. However, it seems in FIFA 17 the harder AI do attack and create threatening opportunities. Although, I will admit that the AI still does hold most of the possession, and at times it is indeed tough to get the ball off of them.

The Rewards of FIFA 17 Offline Seasons

The rewards for single player seasons this year are actually half decent with Division 1 offering you 6,200 fifa 17 coins and a Jumbo Premium Gold Pack. I have completed all the divisions offline and I gained roughly 120,000 coins from doing so. FIFA 17 Offline Divisions are also beneficial if you have two squads: a main team and a fitness team. Whilst competing online against others with your main squad, perhaps play FIFA 17 Offline Seasons with your fitness team. Most people when they use their fitness team challenge the Team of the Week on Beginner, score a few goals, and then put their controller down to do something else whilst they wait for the game to finish. Although this is one good way of managing fitness, I believe that playing offline might be better, as you can earn bonus coins for completing the divisions. In addition, the no loss glitch (which still exists in this year’s instalment), can guarantee you that you’ll never lose against the AI, making it even more beneficial as it won’t affect your record.

Tips on Dealing with the Tougher AI

One of the things that will deter players from going into the FIFA 17 Single Player Seasons is the AI difficulty. I have a few tips on how to deal with the tougher AI, and not get completely dominated by them – which they’re very capable of doing.

My first tip is to deal with defending. A frustrating aspect about the AI, is that they force you to run all over the pitch to wear your players out. Try to tackle and pressure them when they’re in your half. There isn’t much point of trying to steal the ball off the opposition when they’re just going to pass it around with their defenders. My next tip: there’s a bug in the game where for some reason if you jockey the AI in your midfield, it causes them to make passing errors or even poor shots – often leading to easy interceptions.

Attacking wise, the AI will only start to pressure you when you’re in their final third. Hold on to possession as much as you can in the midfield, as the longer you wait with the ball, the more chances your team will create. The most effective ways to score are either a Low driven shot across the keeper, or finesse with the stronger foot just outside the box.
