Sidney Crosby will not need surgery after all.

The Pittsburgh Penguins tweeted Tuesday morning that after seeking additional medical advice, doctors have decided that the star centre will not need surgery on his injured wrist. Instead, Crosby will continue treatments during the off-season and be evaluated regularly before training camp starts in September. Last week, a report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said that Crosby was set to have minor arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist. The 26-year-old was awarded the Hart Trophy this season after he compiled 36 goals and 68 assists in 80 games. Crosby scored one goal and added eight assists in 13 playoff games with the Penguins, who were eliminated in Round 2 by the New York Rangers.
