Bruins (4) – He had a very solid tonight with big saves on David Desharnais,
Brendan Gallagher and Max Pacioretty. Rask had no chance on the goals by
Gallagher (redirection) and P. K. Subban which was a bomb that he never saw.
Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens (2) – Price had good saves on Reilly Smith,
Milan Lucic, who was in alone on him. He had lots of traffic in front of him
tonight. He also had a big save on Shawn Thornton when the Habs were down 3-1.
He had no chance on the Jarome Iginlas back door goal. The Carl Soderberg
goal was short side and not great. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings (1) – Quick
had a rough start with too much scrambling on both goals. Darryl Sutter lifts
him to send a message to him and also jolt the team. Martin Jones, Los Angeles
Kings (5) – Jones had two nice saves in third after having nothing in second. He
came in to change momentum, did his job, but only faced three shots.
John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks (5) - Brilliant tonight!!! He very calm and composed
early on, looked relaxed and locked in. Big save on Marián Gáborík four minutes
into game to set tone. He had a huge right pad save on Tanner Pearson in second
and huge saves on Alec Martinez, Jake Muzzin and Tyler Toffoli down the stretch
in the third. Gibson had five 10 bell saves tonight that helped preserve the win
and the shutout.

person spoke Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because the deal with the
33-year-old right-hander was pending a physical. Veras would get $3.85 million
next season, and the Cubs have a $5.5 million option for 20114 with a $150,000
buyout.

Veras was 0-5 with a 3.02 ERA in 67 games last season for the Houston Astros and
Detroit Tigers, who acquired him on July 29. Detroit declined a $4 million
