Randall Liverpool Jersey
. -- Hours before John Loyer made his debut as
Detroits interim coach, Chauncey Billups offered a preview. "Hes always very
energetic at all times," Billups said. "I dont know what were going to do in
second halves because he wont have a voice. He always loses his voice in the
first half." Billups assessment was spot on, at least through one game. Loyer
coached the Pistons to a 109-100 win over San Antonio on Monday, yelling out
instructions in a raspy voice from the sideline on a night his team led
comfortably for the entire second half. It was an immediate contrast to the
mild-mannered Maurice Cheeks, the coach the Pistons fired a day earlier. Of
course, sideline demeanours can be deceiving -- and Loyer was careful not to
take too much credit for the teams sharp performance against the Spurs. "Its not
about me," he said. "Im just glad our guys played hard." Loyer was in his third
season as an assistant for the Pistons when he was abruptly promoted after
Cheeks dismissal. He was a holdover from Lawrence Franks staff, remaining in the
fold after Cheeks was hired last off-season. Loyer has also been an assistant
for the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers. The
Pistons scored 26 points off turnovers against San Antonio and led by as many as
23. "Certain events happened that are beyond our control, but we were able to
come out and focus on playing basketball," forward Josh Smith said. "We came out
with a big win against a great team." Loyer takes over the Pistons at a time
when patience is growing thin. Detroit signed Smith and traded for
Brandon Jennings in the off-season, but the results have been mixed at best.
Even after beating San Antonio, the Pistons are 22-29. They were tied for the
final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference entering Tuesday night. Detroit had
won four of six when Cheeks was let go, so its hard to tell if the win Monday
could be attributed at all to the coaching change. Jennings played well for
Loyer -- just as he did in the last couple games under Cheeks. "The last four
out of six, weve still been playing the same way," Jennings said after the win
over San Antonio. "Were just trying to keep it going." Cheeks, a former point
guard, was given the task of mentoring Jennings, but Jennings says he can still
look to Billups for veteran guidance. Jennings performance down the stretch may
make or break Detroits playoff chances. Jennings made a point of saying that
Cheeks was like a father figure to him, but he hopes to stay in the offensive
groove hes found over the past few games. "Im back to having fun, instead of
just taking everything so personally and thinking about too much," Jennings
said. "Im just hooping." Detroit hosts Cleveland on Wednesday, then plays a
home-and-home with Charlotte -- another team in the mix for the post-season in
the East. So the Pistons will have a chance to build on their recent success and
create some positive vibes right away for their new coach. "Change for changes
sake doesnt do much," Loyer said. "Anybody can change. We need positive change,
and I thought our guys came out and had great effort (Monday night), great
determination. You try to set a little bit of a tone every day. Thankfully, our
guys, they set the tone."

. As for regular Olympic spectators, theyre being warned
that most travel insurance policies wont cover acts of terrorism or war. The
Games in southern Russia, which run from Feb. 7-23, are being staged amid
unprecedented security and under global warnings of danger.

trigger on his 9 mm pistol in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013 remains the crux
of the South African trial that has captured worldwide attention and is about to
start its seventh week of globally televised proceedings. It was initially
scheduled to run for three weeks.Got a question on rule clarification, comments
on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your
emails at [email protected]! Hey Kerry, I was at the Jets-Oilers game on Tuesday
night and noticed quite a bit of jersey tucking - most notably Bryan Little and
Tobias Enstrom. No penalties were called and as far as I know, no warnings were
given. (there might have been?) any thoughts or insight on to how this will be
called during the season? Thanks,Will BrigantiEdmonton Will: The "jersey
tucking" mandate is designed to comply with Rule 9—Equipment and more
specifically 9.5—Protective Equipment: "All protective equipment, except gloves,
headgear, and goaltenders leg guards must be worn under the uniform. Should it
be brought to the attention of the Referee that a player is wearing, for
example, an elbow pad that is not covered by his jersey, he shall instruct the
player to cover up the pad and a second violation by the same player would
result in a minor penalty being assessed." When a player tucks his jersey into
the top of his pants some portion of the protective padding becomes exposed
(worn outside the uniform) in violation of this rule. From a safety perspective
the gap created by a tucked jersey exposes a portion of the players upper body
and can act as a catchall for flying pucks and sticks to the point of causing an
unnecessary injury. Aesthetically, it also violates rule 9.1 which provides that
all players of each team shall be dressed uniformly with approved design and
color of their helmets, sweaters, short pants, stockings and skates. The fact of
the matter (beyond uniformity) is it just doesnt play well in the building or on
TV. This also translates to the players hockey pants that are ripped, torn, cut
or altered (open zippers inside thigh) for comfort or otherwise that could
expose a bare leg or sock in the thigh area. I witnessed Walt Tkaczuk and other
players that had huge thighs sometimes utilize zippers in the inside of their
pants that would be half-zipped from the bottom for comfort. I thought at the
time it made them vulnerable in this area but also as the pant continued to wear
and curl just how poorly it looked aesthetically. Whenever a rule like this was
handed to us for enforcement I consiidered it a "babysitting" assignment for me
and my colleagues.

. This ranged from telling players how they could dress, to
color of tape and size of the knob on the end of a goalies stick to water
bottles being placed back into the sleeve on top of the net.  As insignificant
as they seem these rules still must be enforced. There were far too many times
to count that I had to advise a player to cover his elbow pad with his jersey.
Super heavyweight Dave Brown (and super guy) used a very tight jersey sleeve
from the top of his elbow down to a shortened cuff. This prevented much
grab-hold by his opponents but also resulted in the lower part of his elbow pad
to become exposed. Every time I asked Brownie to cover his elbow pad he complied
without a fuss; albeit took some work to get it stretched for proper coverage.
The Officials are instructed to enforce the "sweater tuck" when they notice it
as follows: If a player comes onto the ice tucked in, he is warned and must
comply (fix it immediately). Should it occur to the same player in that game
there is no further warning and a minor penalty for delay of game results;
following the assessment of the minor penalty should he return to the ice
without making the necessary change he would be assessed a misconduct penalty;
should this happen a third time, the player shall be assessed a game misconduct
penalty (rule 9.5). It is also important for us to know that the Referees were
reminded that sometimes the sweater might become tucked just through normal
movement in the action of a game. This is not a violation. If however, it were
to become the norm with the same player (for example one who comes onto the ice
un-tucked but during the course of play always seems to end up with his sweater
tucked) the Referees are to notify the League office. Hockey Ops personnel would
then follow-up with the team equipment manager to ensure that the jersey is not
too short for the player and perhaps needs to be altered. This may have been
what took place with Bryan Little and Tobias Enstrom in the game you observed
Will. If by chance the League office was unaware of these players sweaters
frequently getting tucked your question here just might have raised a red-flag!
Great job of "babysitting" Will. NFL Jerseys
