ISLAMABAD: An explosion ripped up a section of road in the northern Pakistan city of Rawalpindi on Sunday shortly after President Pervez Musharraf's convoy had passed by, officials said.
"The president's cavalcade passed a minute before the blast," a military spokesman, Major General Shaukat Sultan, said. "He is safe and sound. There is no loss of life or property."

Five remote-controlled bombs were used in the assassination attempt on President Pervez Musharraf at the weekend, Information Minister Sheikh Rashid said Tuesday.
Would-be attackers planted five explosive devices, which detonated almost simultaneously and blew up a bridge seconds after General Musharraf's motorcade passed on Sunday evening, he said. The bombs were highly sophisticated Rashid told a foreign news agency.
This type of device was never used in the country in the past, he said. Five to six people have been questioned over the attack but no arrests have been made, the minister said. Those who planted the bombs were the ‘most expert people,’ he said.

dude, i brough in sadam becuz u made a statement bout muslims not doin anything like dat! thats y i brought sadam in, n if u didnt notice, i also gave an example of nawaz sharif aswell, who is a paki! n i personally feel, that musharaff should stay in power for as long as its possible! hes an educated man, gfor once, and hes not as narrow minded as most of our politicians. he knows the trends of the west of the world, and he realises dat if we gota survive in this world, then we gota compromise with other ppl aswell, rather than forcing ur own opinions on anybody! musharaff is da man! go sharraff! go sharraff!
