Indian Vogue draws fire for featuring American Kendall Jenner on 10th issue cover
Vogue India has sparked a social media backlash for featuring American super model Kendall Jenner on its 10th anniversary cover.
The May issue of the magazine, a special edition guest edited by Mario Testino, also features Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif and Sushant Singh Rajput,
however it's the choice of choosing the American reality star as the face of the
issue that drew criticism.
"I am utterly disappointed in this Vogue India anniversary cover. There are so many deserving Indian models that should've got it," said a Twitter user.
"Vogue 'India,' celebrating its 10th anniversary in 'India,' in a historic Indian palace…featuring an American model …..is it just me or did @vogueindia
failed to see the irony in that…” one social media user commented on
Instagram.
"I just don't understand the reasoning behind this cover. I tried to Google to find out if there is any news regarding Kendall Jenner and India and there
was no relevance," said another.
"She is beautiful but I'm pretty sure in a county of over 1 billion they could have found an indian! If they want international phenomena Priyanka and
Deepika are huge right now!"
