It's now European Film Festival at Alliance Francaise de Lahore. Matthieu Pinel - the new director seems resolute and looks won't rest until the place is back into its former glory. The month of April has seen a lot with exhibitions of paintings and sculpture, Francophonie Film Festival, lectures, a Bharat Natyam performance and there is much more to come before the Lahore's scorching sun begins exhuating everyone.

The European Film Festival begins today (Monday) at 6 pm at the Centre's Garden Town basement with an opening ceremony and screening of a film from Netherlands titled "The Twins". The European Film Festival begings simultaneously in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore under the local presidency of Royal Netherlands Embassy in which some 19 movies from 13 EU countries will be shown either dubbed or with English sub-titles. The festival shall last till Friday, 30 April.

The first film which will be screened after the opening ceremony at 6:30 pm today is one of the most successful Dutch films of the past 10 years. It's about German twin sisters who are separated at a young age. One sister is raised on Holland and the pother in rural germany. Their lives take different turns until they meet again 40 years after World War II.
