Popular singer Abrarul Haq is all set to release his much awaited fifth album 'Nachaan Mein Oday Naal' on May 15 in London, a day before he performs to a huge audience at Wembley Arena. Abrar left for UK on Friday morning to launch his album and perform in three concerts. The same day album will also be launched in India but he has no plans as yet to go there personally for promotion.
Abrar's popularity graph has continuously been on the rise since he made his debut with 'Billo Day Ghar' in 1995. 'Billo' made a record sale of 15 million copies. His second album 'Majajni' released in 1997 and third one 'Bai Ja Cycle Tay' in 1999 each had over five million copies sold. Abrar bounced back in 2002 with 'Mal-o-Mal'. Over 10 million copies have been sold to date. Now Abrar's hopes are pinned on his latest album on which he has been working for over a year.
The album was to be launched in a grand show at Alhamra Cultural Complex in Lahore on April 30 but the event was postponed due to rain. The album will now be launched at the same venue on May 21. Abrar will return from UK on May 19 and perhaps participate in the rehearsal of the show in the evening. The new album will hit stalls after the show on 21st.
An interview before his departure for London, Abrar said the new album was not just a bid to stay at the top but was linked to his dream of setting up a hospital in Narowal. "My fans have a lot of expectations and I have done my best not to disappoint them. The hospital project is also linked. The love of people and their co-operation helped in the materialisation of this project."
The new album has 10 songs. Abrar this time around has tried to be more innovative but there is no departure from his popular chaste Punjabi style. Most of the songs are up beat numbers but there are some soft melodies as well. The melodious songs 'Nostalgia', 'Kithay Giyya Pind Diya Tallian' and 'Siya Bina Ghar Soona' will definitely appeal to people of all age groups. For youngsters the treats to come include up beat numbers 'Nachaan Mein Oday Naal', 'Sharikaan noo Agg Lagdi' and 'Bolian'. A national song 'Pardesi' has also been included.
The album to be released by Movie Box Co of Birmingham in UK is already creating waves. Abrar said that one of the tracks has been selected for a Hollywood movie. 'It would be played in the movie just like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's song.' About the videos he said that he plans to make video of three songs. "We have many offers. One is from India. Salman Khan, Urmila and Preity Zinta may feature in one video but we have not taken the final decision."
On May 16 Abrar will be performing at Wembley Arena in London along with stars Hadiqa Kiyani, Jawad Ahmed, Ali Zafar and Ali Sher. Earlier he will perform at Manchester News Arena on May 9 and at Glasgow Arena on 11th.
